Bogotá, Colombia - I
went for the first time in February 2001. It is a beautiful city of 8
million people. The living conditions are from very poor to beautiful mansions
and skyscrapers! Bogotá is surrounded by mountains. It
is truly a wonderful place!! This is where my wife lived from her
teenage years until 1998, when she moved to the US. My second trip to
Colombia was two weeks in Dec 2002 & Jan 2003. The biggest
event was spending Christmas in a hospital after emergency surgery!!
"I lived." We had a great time otherwise. We spent the
time visiting and touring around Bogotá. We even had a private tour
of the Presidential Palace, thanks to our friend, Argemiro, who works in the
Security Section for the Colombian President Uribe. My third trip to
Bogotá was in June 2004. We stayed with family and my good friend in
Chia, Colombia (just north of Bogotá).
This beautiful piece of gold is found
in the National Gold Museum, "Museo del Oro". The museum houses a collection of more than 36,000
gold pieces, representing the myths and beliefs of the major pre-Columbian cultures in Colombia.
