Honolulu, HI - We stayed
on Waikiki Beach (see picture below). It is so built up with
hotels! We had to go to other areas of the island to see natural
scenes. The beaches were beautiful. Michael and I went boogie-boarding
in the surf. We snorkeled in one of the best snorkeling sites in the
world - Hanauma Bay (also click - Hanauma Bay). The deep water fish and coral in shallow water
and protected by a natural enclosure of lava rock. We went to the
informative Polynesian Cultural Center to learn the history of the
Hawaiian
Islands. We visited Pearl
Harbor. The memorials were
moving. We drove around the island mountains and drove in to Diamond
Head Crater (extinct volcano). I went scuba diving off of Waikiki on a wreck
that the Atlantis Submarines visited. One of their large submarines
came down within 50 feet of me. The many passengers waved and took
pictures of us diving.
